KENT STATE IN 1970 VS. BUNKERVILLE NEVADA IN 2014

On May 4th, 1970 the National Guard killed 4 unarmed young people who were protesting the Vietnam War and wounded others who were also unarmed at Kent State in Ohio. Fast forward to 2014 and the world we are living in now. There is an ultra-conservative militia group that has set up camp in Nevada whose members are parading around carrying loaded assault rifles. They have set up armed check-points and residents have to show ID to prove that they belong there. Hotels and other businesses that cater to the general public in the area are complaining that the presence of the militia is causing them to lose business. It's even verified that they have had snipers in position with rifles pointed at Federal officers. All of this and the Feds have done nothing to arrest, disperse or otherwise remove them! I think back to the peaceful marchers of the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's and how the authorities turned the fire hoses on them, sicked the dogs on them, beat them with their billy clubs and arrested them. I think back to the trial of the "Chicago Six." I think back to the Democratic National Convention of 1968 and remember the chant, "The whole world is watching," as the cops beat the shit out of the people who were protesting as they threw them into paddy wagons and yes, I think back to the lives that were lost at Kent State on that day in 1970. The innocence that was lost that day by what were nothing more than ideological college kids. My how things have changed. I guess these days an armed militia can just set up a camp and declare martial law over a community and the government does nothing about it. Yes, things surely have changed. Or perhaps it's all about who's doing the protesting and why. Perhaps if you're protesting an unjust war or the fact that you are being denied your rights as a minority citizen you are treated differently then if you are white, waving an American Flag and saying that you are a patriot. Perhaps it's all a matter of perspective. All I know is that I, for one, want to see the National Guard rolling into Bunkerville, Nevada like Patton's Third Army rolled through Europe and I want to see all of those uneducated, red neck, gun totin' good ol' boys taken into custody and charged with the myriad of crimes they have committed. I want to see their guns taken away from them and I want to see them handcuffed and being carted away. Since we haven't closed Guantanamo Bay Prison yet I think that would be a good place for them. I'm sure that they will be considering themselves to be political prisoners so let's treat them as such. And in the off chance that these clowns decide to be martyrs and make a stand let's give them what they want. Let's give the National Guard the order to fire just as they did on May, 4th 1970 on a group of college students who were completely unarmed. Let's allow these delusional patriots to go out in the blaze of glory they have been dreaming of. One way or another it's time to end the Tea Billy circus out in Nevada and, to use one of their own key phrases, "Take Our Country Back."

SHOOTING INCIDENT AT STEVENSON UNIVERSITY WAS A CASE OF ANIMAL CRUELTY

The two students involved in the shooting incident at Stevenson University yesterday were not hunting and it is completely irresponsible for WBAL and any other news organizations to be reporting that they were. What they were doing is committing an act of animal cruelty which is illegal. It is also illegal to actually hunt ducks and geese out of season but in this case they were not hunting anyway. They were just inflicting pain onto these animals with pellet air rifles for their own sick, demented enjoyment. These are ducks and geese that are probably used to being fed by normal students and staff and just sat there while these two demented young men shot at them. These two students should be charged with animal cruelty by the local authorities and expelled by the university. If the local authorities actually want to consider what they were doing hunting, (which I strongly disagree with,) then they should be charged with shooting waterfowl without a hunting license and doing it out of season. There are also laws on the books that specifically ban shooting animals, (hunting,) within a certain distance of residences and businesses which I'm sure they broke being on a college campus. The bottom line here is that the authorities were apparently so overly relieved that this was not a college shooting scenario that they overlooked the obvious laws that were broken. These two sick young men need to be charged with every law that they did break and learn the lesson that animal cruelty is against the law!!
